IoT - Making Life Better: The Cupboards Are Closed

I often think of how IoT might change our lives in the future. I think it is going to be a dramatic change, but over many years. I think IoT integration will make our lives better, and less frustrating. Here is one example.

As a parent of tweens, our kitchen cupboards are always left open. It seems that every time we come into the kitchen there are several cupboards to close. Sometimes, all the cupboards are open. Overall, this isn't that big a deal. Sure, we remind our kids to close the cupboards. But it can be frustrating, even if for a brief moment of frustration.

As circuitry continues to get smaller and cheaper, I imagine that everything will be connected. Yes, it is even possible that cupboards will have some level of IoT connection. It is possible that they will have an open/closed state. So, one day my house might know that my son was in the kitchen and that he is leaving the kitchen and a cupboard is open. Based on the rules I setup, my house might remind him to close the cupboard.

One less thing I have to do and a brief moment of frustration and stress averted from my life. Giving me a little more time and a less stressful life.

Yes, I look forward to a fully connected home.
